beyond Chicago: Midwest Meetings and More

Detroit, MI

image

A short 1 ½ hour flight from Chicago, the Detroit area offers a lot of Midwestern American fun. Also known as Motor City, or Motown, the automobile and Detroit music tell a rich story. Your group can visit the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village with historical vignettes of the broad spectrum of American history, or CM&M can create a custom event that rocks with a 12-piece R&B orchestra fronting a backdrop of historical automobiles. The newly developed downtown casino district is second only to Las Vegas!

Milwaukee, WI

Less than 2 hours' drive from Chicago, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is home to the recently opened Harley Davidson Museum, the new meeting point for fans of this All-American motorcycle phenomenon. Beyond the classic tour of Miller (Beer) Brewing Company there are excellent and trendy restaurants and galleries in the historic Third Ward and stunning art museums that make for a wonderful cultural outing or the setting for a memorable special event. Renting motorcycles or attending a sporting event can add a unique thrill to your group’s program.

Quad Cities

(Moline & Rock Island, IL and Davenport & Bettendorf, IA)

A short one hour connection flight, or 3 hours by motor coach from Chicago, the Quad Cities is a metropolitan area composed of four towns on the Mississippi River border between Illinois and Iowa. A prime agricultural region and home to the World Headquarters of John Deere & Co., the Quad Cities also offers a wealth of touristic activities. Dine with a local farmer on a meal prepared by his wife, or embark on a lunch or dinner cruise on the mighty Mississippi River - the Quad Cities offers the perfect example of small-town USA to compare with Chicago’s big-city bustle.

St. Louis, MO

image

St. Louis, "The Gateway to the West," is approximately 5 hours' drive, or a short 1 ¼ hour connection flight, from Chicago. The headquarters for Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Monsanto are found within the metropolitan area of St. Louis. Its famous Arch overlooks the Mississippi River border between Illinois and Missouri. Site of the 1904 World's Fair, the city's Forest Park is the current home of several impressive museums and one of the most famous zoos of the USA. Historic Laclede's Landing and Union Station are prime destinations for dining, shopping and entertainment and the quaint nearby village of St. Charles offers charming options for lunch, dinner or a stroll among the shops.
